Prayer is my love language

My my, another Christmas is here and gone again. What a wonderful time of the year when everyone is seemingly happy and filled. This year for me was quiet as usual, nothing out of the ordinary- church, a good sleep, and some nice food. It is often said that Christmas is a time for love, but how do we receive this love? Is it found in the presents shared, or the carols sung, or the food prepared? Well, for me, prayer brings a warmth to my heart that nothing else brings. A prayer from me unto God that He would bless all others, and that His light would truly shine in their hearts. Also, a prayer for me that I would receive all that He has in store for me, that i would live according to His word, that i would receive true love.
Recently i came across someone who said that "love is a feeling you have never felt before". I must confess that it did make me laugh. Yet, now i am actually contemplating if that "feeling" is what i have. Hmm, and how do i keep it once i've received it. Well, no doubt the issue of love has crossed your mind too. Thus i offer a prayer for you and trust that it will be your language of love also.

I'm in the Cocoon!

In each of our lives there comes a point where we have to make a decision to move forward with all our might or just settle and be carried along by the tide. Another way to view this stage of life is like that of the transformation of a catepillar to butterfly. Though we desire a beautiful and successful outcome to our life, we must go thru the struggle.
For my life, i am viewing the next two years as my time of development significant to my legacy. Its my aim to be diligent during this time and committed to my personal growth. The balance of ministry on campus as well as studies is great alone, yet there are other responsibilities and relationships that i must also continue to support. Through it all my simple prayer is that i don't neglect people, because life without others is no life at all. Nevertheless, i aim to have an enjoyable time and remember these times of my youth. I surrender all to my Father and King, to whom i dedicate it all. Praise be to the Most High! During this time the book of Acts is my guide as i desire that same power and the active presence of the Holy Spirit which they had - chp 1:8. May Christ beauty be seen at the end of it all.

I am in Mexico!!!

Can anyone fathom what great things God can do! It is so amazing the experiences that are available to us when we avail ourselves to Him. For me this is an exciting time because i am surrounded by the spanish language and culture. Also i am able to impact lives for Christ in a city that i would never think i would be in.
well they say first impression counts and i like what i have seen so far. unlike the US they have trees in the city here, which is refreshing to see coming from a tropical country. Also the people here are very "amable". The students that i have met so far Gianina y Victor are just like our students, fun! I am grateful to Jose for letting me crash at their place tonite. My i really hope to make the best of these two weeks. God you are awsome!!!

Dealing with temptation

v Personal Application - How on earth are you going to deal with temptation!

Realize that because you are being tempted doesn’t mean that you have sinned if you have not given in to do what is wrong. Read Hebrews 4:15

1. Do not let the temptation settle. Deal with it immediately on becoming aware. James 1:14-15
2. Go to God in prayer about areas in your life with which you find it hard to stop doing. Psalms 139:23
3. Avoid places, things, situations, and even people/friends that tempt you and influence you to sin. Run like the wind! Proverbs 1:10&15
4. Memorize scripture verses that will help you avoid sin. Psalms 119:9-11
5. Share with a Christian friend any struggle you might have so that they can pray for you and keep you accountable. James 5:16
6. Make a commitment in your heart to grow in Christ and not to give in to Satan. Titus 2:11-12 “Naa Bow”

SEX AND THE SEARCH FOR INTIMACY - Part 1

What does it take to experience real intimacy with someone? What is love? What is intimacy?

Dr. Henry Brandt, in the Collegiate Challenge magazine, said that there is a syndrome, a pattern, when couples come to him. They say, "At first, sex was exciting. Then I started feeling funny about myself, and then I started feeling funny about my partner. We argued and fought and finally we broke up. Now we are enemies."
This syndrome is what I call the morning-after syndrome. We wake up and find that intimacy is not really there. The sexual relationship does not satisfy us anymore, and what we end up with is not what we really wanted in the first place. All you have is two self-centered people seeking self-satisfaction. The elements of genuine love and intimacy cannot be obtained "instantly," and you find yourself in an unbalanced state, searching for harmony.
Each of us has five significant parts in our lives. We have the physical, the emotional, the mental, the social, and the spiritual. All five of these parts are designed to work together in harmony. In our search for intimacy we want the solution today, or yesterday. One of our problems is that we want "instant" gratification. When the need for intimacy in a relationship is not met, we look for an "instant" solution. Where do we look? Physical, mental, social, emotional or spiritual? It's the physical. It is easier to be physically intimate with someone than to be intimate in any of the other four areas. You can become physically intimate with a person of the opposite sex in an hour, or half-hour -- it just depends upon the urge! But you soon discover that sex may only be a temporary relief for a superficial desire. There is a much deeper need that is still unmet...

Its About Honour

Last Saturday night i watched Facing the Giants for the first time. Even though thhe presentation was clearly 'christiany', its message was thoroughly powerful. Its not often that a movie challenges me internally but this one touched my emotions without being cheesy. It challenged my manhood and understanding of leadership. Furthermore, it incited me to live more for God. The principal theme of the movie was whether we win or loose, we play for the honour of God. While this statement was attributed to an american football team, its reach spanned every area of life for each individual. Without even thinking about receiving blessings those who believe in Jesus Christ need to honour Him with every iota of our life. That is my motto for living, that His honour be seen in my life.
